Well that got your attention, thought this was going to be dirty didn't you. Well maybe it is in a way.

It is a prime number, it's bases (2 and 3) add to 5 (the "law of fives" is very big in numerology and some mythology). 23 is the first prime number in which both digits are prime numbers and add up to another prime number.

Twenty three is also a significant number in love. In ancient China, the number two was assigned a feminine role and the number three was given a masculine role. The number 23 then became to symbolize marriage, procreation, and progeny. The number was honored and revered by Chinese mathematicians who recognized that it was made up of two consecutive prime numbers while being a prime number in itself.

In the Kaballah, the Hebrew studies of gematria, the number means severity or judgment. It is associated with apocalypse. In fact, the date to beware of in the future would be the year 2023, according to that system of predictive numerology. Another date for the end of worlders to get all excited about

The number 23 is sacred in the religion Discordia because it belongs to a Greek Goddess named Eris. She is the Goddess of Chaos and her followers practice a form of ritual worship called chaos magic.

The great psychologist and anthropologist Carl Jung also thought that the number 23 was special and defined it as a number of synchronicity.

Human ova and sperm each contain 23 chromosomes. These two sets of chromosomes must pair up before a new human being can be created in the womb.

Seriously, one of my magazine subscriptions is 'Skeptical Inquirer' that investigates and blows up the crack pot theories of boneheads and fakers. In the last issue I read it just happened to be about numerology and inquiring minds what to know so I surfed the net and pulled out a few examples.
