I know a guy who took small amounts and swore by it's health effects. (Anit bacterial, anti viral ect...) The anti microbial thing is very real. So I could see the "idea" behind getting a little into your system to kill pahtogens.

However, abuse of it can lead to strange side effects:

Silver coins were used to keep water and wine fresh. Silver is also used as a potent, non toxic antibiotic for burns (guess how I know that one?).

Yup. The silver pads, creams and other stuff that they used on my burns stained my skin a purple-gray for almost a year. (not all my skin.. just where the silver was in contact with it).

Heavy metals are poison.

People used to use lead in tableware too...was that a good idea?

Argyria (ISV from Greek: ἄργυρος argyros silver + -ia) is a condition caused by improper exposure to chemical forms of the element silver, silver dust, or silver compounds.[1] The most dramatic symptom of argyria is that the skin becomes blue or bluish-grey colored. Argyria may be found as generalized argyria or local argyria. Argyrosis is the corresponding condition related to the eye. The condition is believed to be permanent, but laser therapy has been used to treat it with satisfactory cosmetic results.[2]

An FYI..

"The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) describes argyria as a "cosmetic problem",[9] which is not harmful, but it is mildly disfiguring and thus some people find it to be socially debilitating."

There you have it! Perfectly safe, except for the trying to find a job part.

Yea, Roger once shot down a helicopter with a .22 and couldn't get out of the way of the faliing, burning wreckage quick enough. Thus the injuries.

Yeah, it has anti-biotic properties because it's poison.

But hey, if someone wants to self-dose on cheap chemotherapy for their case of the clap rather than get some penicillin then it's a free country.

I'm having a real hard time believing this is a good idea. Printertard being on board only solidifies that.

I dont know if this is the same stuff but when I got some road rash about 2 years ago they treated me with a topical ointment at the doctors office that they called silver something and that stuff felt so good, it was also real cold from being in the docs fridge. I dint turn blue though it was just a one time dosage. They actually told me that they wouldnt be allowed to reapply it. I dint think to ask but maybe that was the reason.
