Currently using indoor range not allowing Wolf ammo because of steel core.
Trying to stay with reasonably priced ammo that my magnet will not attach.
I am not familiar with other brand ammo for AK in 7.62 or 5.56/.223 for each of my AKs. (Legend in 7.62 and BWK in 5.56)
Please let me know what brand/s ammo does not have steel core.

TIA

Unless desginated SS109 (EU NATO spec steel core) or M855, it shouldn't have a steel core or jacket.

American Eagle is steel-free, Privi Partisan (non-SS109), etc.

Most commercially available brands of 7.62 do not have steel core. Some of the surplus ammo does, but it's mostly Chinese, and not readily available in the US.

I use Ulyanovsk, which is the former maker of Wolf Military Classic, which is steel jacketed, brass-coated steel jacket with lead core. My range allows the bi-metal jacket, but check with yours. Much ammo uses the bi-metal jackets, which is brass-over-steel, lead core, so it will still attract a magnet, but it is significantly different than true steel core.

Wolf, Tula, Uly, and other brands like these are generally lead core, but it depends on your range whether or not they allow the mild steel jackets.

I have 500 rounds of the Wolf pure copper lead core left. I haven't seen this available for years.
