I found a pretty neat site that tells you how to make these alcohol stoves out of cat food tins and soda cans.

Pretty neat... I'm surprised how well they work.

Plenty of videos on youtube too.

Here's the site with the info and plans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czb4jn5y94g

And fromt he ZenStoves site, you can get really fancy making a pressurized stove and using a 24oz Heineken beer keg can as a boiling pot.

They work as advertised but you really want to secure it somehow. Almost impoossible to use safely because the move so easily and tipping or splashing burning alcohol that you can't see burning is a real pain. Maybe I'm just clumsy but it was an experiment I won't try again. I'm older now and supposedly more mature and cautious but I'm also a little shakier and my reflexes not quite as good as they used to be. Be careful.

i played with these a few years ago, will boil and cook like said, and indoors too. yellow HEET works the best. not bad really, but i like a small wood gas better. or a rocket type, google and get bags under your eyes with all the vids,
