Well I'm eligible for an upgrade with Cingular/ATT. I've been very happy with them and will be sticking with them. My problem is being overwhelmed with all the new phones on the market now, so I'm seeking advice/input from people in-the-know.

I thought main competition was iPhones vs. Droid/Droid2, but that ain't the case no more. I'm looking for good battery life/durability (not a POS that'll easily break)/reception and I guess since I'm grandfathered into the unlimited data (web) a decent websurfer wouldn't be bad. I've heard both pros and cons with both iphones (4th gen) and droid (and droid-run phones, security issues?). Would I be good with an iphone 3 still?

Thanks for the help fellas.

I'm an Android fan, personally... I have a huge HTC EVO, and love it...

What about the EVO made you pick it? Same with the android OS.

Well, you can get an iFAG and be gay. Or get something else and only maybe be gay.

I have a HTC incredible 2. I can do anything I want with it and then some.

Wow, what incredible reasons you give against the iphones. As I asked RJ, why did you choose incredible....in addition to it 'doing anything you want and then some'?

Im just kinda anti anything "i". A lot of apple users are...well, pretty smug.

As far as Android goes, the only thing I cant do with it is use iFAGTUNES. All the good porn sites use flash. :-)

The incredible 2 was an upgrade from the Motorola droid. Bigger screen and lighter weight. Still fits in my flight suit pocket which is a must (since that where i put it). Battery life is good, it never died on me. I do a lot of data too. Its only a 3G phone, but thats all we have here. By the time we get 4G here I will have upgraded again.

The bad: The speaker isnt all they great for music and such. My Droid was a lot louder.

Don't have a cell phone, not a fan of them myself, but I also dislike iFag stuff, mostly because it's all so proprietary. You have to use iFag this, iFag that, and don't even think of using any third party anything with your iFag, because once you go iFag you're locked into iFagness for all eternity.

I don't like those kinds of limitations on my choices.

That said, I do have a couple of the original iFag iPods, one a 160 Gig version and another has a 240 Gig drive, but I don't use iFagtunes with either of them. I use MediaMonkey Gold to work with them, thus giving me the best of what I wanted...a high capacity mp3 player (iFags are the only ones with HD options of those capacities) and no need to have iFag, proprietary software to load/use them. They're iFags, but I'm not locked into iFagness to use them...I've eliminated the limitations on choice in this case.

Good points Ron and Oswald, lol. I too have noticed some smugness on the part of some apple fans. I personally don't have an ipod, i used a generic rca mp3 player. That is a good point tho, I wouldn't mind consolidated two devices into one. Another good points you guys bring up about apple not playing well with others...don't like idea of being limited in software/choices either. Thanks for the tip.

Have you had any issues as far as "security" of the android system? What I mean is that I've read articles about the android OS being somewhat unsecure.

Just saw a recent article today about iFag plans to address issues with iFag security on their phones...ahh...here are a couple links...

http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/news/2011/07/07/apple-working-on-mobile-security-flaw.html

You're dealing here with new operating systems on essentially portable computers that can also make phone calls. These are not so much phones, as computers that allow you to make phone calls wirelessly...and security will always be an issue as their development continues apace, just as Winblows continues to have to make adjustments on security issues.

Ya, that's what I was thinking. Why I'm asking about security issues. The newer phones/OSs offering firewalls/virus guard/etc. for phones nowadays? Oh also, you guys verizon or att? I'm att and see that the evo is verizon.

I am with Verizon. It seems unlimited data plans are a thing of the past. So, that sucks. I just read how Verizon was doing away with it.

As far a security. I havent had any problems. I do not keep anything on the phone anyone would want. no banking or anything like that. I keep bluetooth turned off as well as GPS stuff unless I am using maps and stuff. Not because I care if anyone is tracking me, but because it can eat up battery life. I mean, Ive just never worried about it.

True that about unlimited data plans going away or now extra cost....I was fortunate with ATT in that since I had it before (not new customer) I keep the deal I have.

I have an HTC inspire.

Android is an operating system and it kicks ass. All of the apps I have wanted so far are free.

I don't have any apple products in my house.
