I really don't use it as a 20" rifle. I think if I shorten it down to 10.5" and start using my YHM Phantom suppressor on it, it will be far more enjoyable.

Any suggestions on uppers when my paperwork comes back? Kinda looking at a Noveske 10.5" SWITCHBLOCK. Are the shorter barreled ARs more finicky with cans? Are they more finicky anyway? The YHM Phantom I have is a 7.62 that I can use on a 5.56. Will the extra bore diameter of the 7.62 Phantom give me any options that wouldn't work well with a 5.56 can (the general consensus on another forum is that cans on 7" and 7.5" ARs is a no-go)?

These are always sold out, but some just came in stock like last weekend. I'd buy it up while I could.

Can't buy that until the paperwork clears. Constructive possession.

Also, don't want the front sight assembly. Planning to use an Eotech.

Anything under 20" is more finicky. I think 10.5 is OK for length but you should give YHM a call and make sure your Suppressor is rated for that short of a barrel. You will be burning most of the powder in the suppressor, not in the barrel. I know there's 14.5" for the M4's, but is there a 12" out there?

They sell it as a pistol upper, so I thought it would be fine.

Would the front sight really block the eotech? Seems like a lot of people have red dots on rifles with front iron sights. Maybe because the barrel is so short, the sight would block a lot more.

One poster on a silencer forum already checked with YHM. They said 10.5 is fine, but no shorter. One other guy was trying to convince the original poster that his can was going to fill with unburned powder and eventually explode like a pipe bomb. YHM said there wouldn't be any problems.

It would be fine if I had a pistol receiver, but I have a rifle and a short upper in your possession along with a rifle receiver equals SBR, even if you don't put them together.

Pfffffft

IF theres that much unburnt powder you have issues to start with.

Damn. Funny how its illegal to own two individually legal items simultaneously.

Thanks ATF! :salute:

That's a nice looking upper assembly, bet it's pretty expensive. http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=105-556-sb&cat=119&page=1&search=&since=&status= Holy Hell! $1,435 is a whole rifle with change most places! :thud:

PK has it for $959. Tht's why I was asking in another thread if anyone had ordered from them.

Still pricey, but supposedly runs well.

Why not just buy a 10.5 barrel and use it with your existing upper? The front sight will not get in the way of the eotech, it co-witnesses with your irons.

Im just envious of your awesome collection such as that Rhino of yours and the AWESOME Osprey suppressor. I have been eyeballing them, too bad they are on the high side.

Gonna go drink this when I finish the cigar:

Gonna drink it out of a gold diamond-encrusted goblet with "Pimp" written on it in rubies.

The pimp goblet is OK as long as you don't mix it with Coke or Soda water.

I have three bottles of 30 year Laphroaig. Maybe I could pour them in a bowl and make some sort of punch.

Question on topic, has anybody heard of M16 Clinic Viper uppers? I can get a 10.5" for $650, but it seemed a little heavy.
