I really don't see why, we are continually being told by the President's talking heads that SSI is not part of the debt issue because it's funded by it's own separate tax. If the R's were smart (and they aren't) they would point this out.

I remember during the Bush2 elections, the democrats kept telling people that Bush was going to cut social security, and idiots like my in-laws voted for the other guy just because they were sure Bush would do it. They were slightly wrong and in Bush's 8 years there were constant cost of living increases in the amounts given out.

Contrast that to obama-messiah, who in his first two years, at time of true price rises in the things most important to seniors, gasoline and food, he blocked any cost of living increases each year, effectively "cutting" the value of the social security check. And now he threatens to with hold payment if the republicans stick to their guns and demand fiscal responsibility!!!!!
