I wanted a side scope mount that was inexpensive and looked good so i bought THIS

http://www.amazon.com/Palco-Sports-Side-Scope-Mount/dp/B004IXWQG6/ref=sr_1_7?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1310749410&sr=1-7

It has a quick release, seems well finished and well made and mounts solid. It slid right on the side bracket with no adjustment and tightened up just fine once the lever was turned. It cost me $27 with shipping and came in 4 days Fed ex.
I have not shot the gun with it yet.

The scope is a $90 NCStar with lighted reticle. I intend to use this scope on both my Stag M4 and this rifle, for now anyway. (I don't have $100 for another scope unless i want to eat beans for two weeks lol.)

Never heard of Palko Sports but as long as it mounts securely and doesn't wobble, it should do you just fine. Same for the red dot.

Now for the range report! :D

I'll let you know how well it holds up once i shoot it...I wanted one with a decent price, and that didn't look like a flat black tin can slapped onto the side of the rifle. I like how it looks and it's cheap. It is a pretty substantial casting, aluminum i think, but the latch is a little flimsy.

The guy who wrote the review is right, the tension adjustment of the quick release is not fine enough. If i have problems with it holding in place, i will drill out the fastener or grind it off (it uses a round knob on the bottom that you can't see in the pictures) and replace it with a longer bolt and a nut through the latch and clamp.

If the latch is flimsy I think recoil will kill it. A 7.62x39 AKM whips pretty good and that's going to work on that soft metal. A word of advise, cheap stuff rarely works out long term. You pay less but eventually have to replace it, usually with a quality part you should of poped for in the first place. In the end you find you've spent more because you initally spent less.

So an AK scope mount made out of aluminum will not last?
