I just field stripped it and reassembled it after cleaning without having to refer to the manual. It took about 3 minutes to disassemble and about 5 to reassemble. That is pretty good for me. Now I just need to spend some time with my Garand so I can get proficient with it.

You are both wrong, he did his record time in field stripping and reassembling with a M-14. On the other hand it was between the M1 and the M16 in service so you were both close if that makes you feel any better.

I almost went with the M14, but talked myself out of it based on it being Veit Nam. Should have went with my first instincts.

Your accuracy is improving as well, I think you scored a 77 on the postal match this month.

The m1 carbine is a fun shooter. I haven't had mine out for a while...

It's also an excellent home/farm/ranch protector - especially for the women and churlins.

I was out at the PD range this weekend and went through 300 round qualification session with one of mine. Been carrying a Ruger PC4 police carbine for a year or so, and though I like it and the fact it utilizes the same ammo as my Glock 23, I decided the M1 carbine I used to carry on duty was more accurate and had a little more 'umph' than the .40 S&W. The PC4 is going in the vault and the .30 carbine is going back on duty.
