I admit I grew up more of a city boy.
We moved onto a 10 acre farm and the wife had to have
horses.

She found one for me in Arkansas. A Missouri Fox Trotter.
She's a mare, and pregnant to boot.

I have to give her credit for doing a lot of web research and
phone conversing with sellers, etc.

I had to front the $ 1500.00 for the gal. She's saddle broke and
ready to ride. She just arrived last Thursday and is still adjusting to
our place. But, it's really exciting in a way. I've got my own horse.
We can do some weekend trail ride/camping excursions.

Should I get a leather holster for a Winchester lever action?

Nice horse,congratulations.

I was raised around horses all my life and did a little calf roping in the junior rodeo when i was a teenager. I wish i had the time for one now, maybe when i retire in a few years.

They're a great source of enjoyment and at times can be the dumbest things on the planet. :)

Nice looking horse but then I'm kind of a sucker for walkers and trotters of any kind.

You are a long long way from having to worry about a scabbard. I'd just spend as much time with her as possible to find out what her tics are, guns might not be in her future. I hope you already have her on a farriers schedule, especially now that she is carrying. Did she come with a saddle because a good fitting saddle will save her and your wife a lot of grief if you do a lot of long rides.

Looks like you got yourselves a great looking animal there. Horses are wonderful animals and you get the added benefit of fertilizer for the garden.

I'm a horse guy, and my wife works at a farm. Before I read that she was pregnant, I was gonna ask if she was distended! LOL!!!

She's very pretty. How many hands tall? She looks to be about 16-16.5...

Again, very nice looking mare!!!!!

Here's my girls...

Well, she's just barely 15 hands.
That works for me, I'm 5-11"
Not far to fall.
Nice looking pair RJ. thanks.

Got some hills here in Indiana, no mountains.
I'm more comfortable on hills anyway.

Anywhere near Winamac? Tippecanoe River State Park has some bridle trails

Winamac is fairly close. Brown Co. St. Park is also a good locale to ride.
We are center of the State, so there's lots of options.

BOGO, buy one, get one.
Ha! yeah, 2 fer one.

Congrats! If you spend time with her and enjoy having her then she will be worth every penny that she's going to cost you.

Schutz is being crude with his stump broke comment ;)

Think of standing on a stump and where that puts your midsection... and you can guess the rest...

Nice looking animal Rah.
I hope your wife enjoys riding her.

Not to inject anything negative in your thread, but after my experiences with horses in my early years, I wouldn't give a plug nickel for every horse on earth.
