This is a general all purpose everyday vehicle firearm.

Right now I do not have a particular firearm I keep or travel with in the truck.I do carry a concealed handgun everywhere I legally can.

An S&W sigma .40 cal, mostly cause i don't care if it gets beat up bouncing around in the glove box and it's been a competely reliable gun for over 500 rounds

glock 19 with 3 mags in glove box.

Do you leave these in the vehicle or take them in each night?

I leave the extra mags in glove box all the time, but the pistol goes with me everywhere I go. I have two young kids, so out of the 50 or so firearms, only two stay out of the safe.
glock 19 that is with me 24-7, and a shotgun for HD if Im out and the wife is the only one home.

Being out of work, I had to sell my normal carry gun.
Normally, around here, I feel pretty safe and don't feel carrying one is really necessary on every trip.
Now, if I go somewhere I'm not familiar with, I'll carry my AK pistol. I'll also carry my AK rifle if I know I won't be getting out of the truck. We're allowed to carry our rifles with a loaded mag inserted, but not one in the chamber. I only carry 1 loaded mag for each gun. Hell, if 40 rds. aren't enough, I'll just give up.
Hopefully, I'll get a normal handgun to carry again soon.

Not much, they need to be kept clean which doesn't always happen with a car weapon. The striker mechanism they use isn't the best for chambered round carry and at $150-200 you can find higher quality used firearms that work much better. In the last 3 months I've bought an Astra 70 for $225, a Sigma 9mm for $200 and a Chinese Tok 9mm for $135, any of which would be a better carry firearm then a hipoint IMO.

I don't have a weapon that stays in my truck exclusively. I carry my XD-9 with me all the time. It goes with me where ever I go. So, I guess, my XD-9 is my truck, car, concealed carry weapon of choice during the summer time. In the winter, it's either my G-21 or my Beretta 92fs.

With the state laws, the only firearms I can carry in my vehicle are either a rifle or shotgun. I don't feel the need to carry one, usually, so I seldom do.

I'm now looking at the CZ-82 other than the mags I can't see no other reason not to get one.

i keep a Glock 22 chambered with a full mag and 2-3 spare mags in the truck at all times. i'm not allowed a loaded rifle/shotty here in MO so i just don't bother.

and like HDR i can leave whatever i want in the truck, including keys with the windows down, and no one bothers anything.

I normally don't leave our propperty without the Glock 19 or 21 on me. If traveling a distance, I always bring a Chinese Tokarev along. The 7.62X25 round seems excellent for penetration.

Usually my WASR 10/63 UF, with a 30 round mag, sometimes with a four mag chest rig my brother got for me in Baghdad.

Sometimes my Glock 21, usually with no extra mags.

When I carry, it's two Tok .30s in IWB on both hips :gunman:

It is too buggy here to leave the windows down. ;)

Now I don't fee so bad about rolling with my SAR 3 :hyper:

I also have a medic backpack (yes, I trained to use it), chest rig, water purifier bottle, water, digital ear pro and a few msc. bits of gear- about 20 lbs of kit.

My wife rolls with a little sub 2000 kit- I use dry film lube I baked in so it's lubed even after being in the trunk at 110 F for months.

On the AK I use axle grease- lasts a few months in the trunk.

Glock 26 with a +2 on the mag in a holster with 1-10 rounder and 2-17 rounders in a Maxpedition bag....along with 2 spare AR mags. To and from work I'll be carrying my personally owned AR patrol rifle (Del-ton over Stag) with a G2 light and EoTech XPS-2. It's in a bag with 5 more spare mags. When traveling, I carry the AR, a spare Glock 17, and more mags and ammo....just in case.

G19 is normally in the glove box. Behind the rear seat (F250 crew cab) I keep a Mossberg 590 in a soft case with a mixture of rifled slugs, buckshot & birdshot. I pull them both out once a month and give them a quick wipe down & oil.

as for the hi-points, mriddick is right about the striker arrangement, probably not advisable to have one in the pipe, as the safety does nothing to prevent the striker from moving. Personally if I was going to use one it would be the .45, as you can't find any other .45 for close to that price, there are better 9mm's and .40's out there for not much more money.

This carbine was built just for this reason and nothing more, it is only 1/4" longer than a standard carbine with a fully collapsed M4 stock. The Bushnell red dot perfectly
co witnesses with the irons, she is also equipped with a fully chromed BCG and upgraded extraction system. I have custom compartments that I built into my vehicle to stow my equipment securely and out of sight.

I carry an FLC vest with 8 30 round mags for the carbine and a 50cal ammo can with 4 loaded bandoleers / stripper clips and extra mags. As far as the pistol, one mag in the well and 2 extra. My last line is my trusty CKRT M-16 folder. All weapons are with me at all times.

i don't have a dedicated "car gun" since i'm not crazy about leaving a gun in my vehicle when i'm not in it. I also am unclear about the effects of extreme temperatures on ammunition, i've also had guns rust on me in the space of an afternoon in my car.
During cold weather when I can wear a coat, my Glock 23 is carried on me, during hot weather when i am forced to dress lighter my Glock is relegated to temporary car gun duty, it's accessible while i'm in the car but generally have to leave it if i go into a store or whatever (ironically if i need it, it will most likely be while i'm OUT of the car). it comes back in the house with me when i return home though.

Once im able to get a new car (can't currently get vehicle financing because I have no credit history. "you're a ghost" is how the guy running my credit check put it) I might give the car gun concept another try, but with a long gun instead, but my current vehicle isn't the best for hiding one so i'm holding off for now. I bought a used Mossberg 500 Mariner a while back and stuck a sidesaddle on it, and I was thinking it might be a good candidate for that purpose once i finally decide to do it.

I carry a glock 26. My passanger cabin is not that great for concealing rifles(honda fit). But i used to have a 325i and it just so happens that an ak 47 with 30rd mag fits snug between the drivers seat and center console while not being visible from the exterior of the vehicle.

Against the law to have a firearm in your vehicle for protection in MI. unless you have a CW permit.

This is a general all purpose everyday vehicle firearm.

Right now I do not have a particular firearm I keep or travel with in the truck.I do carry a concealed handgun everywhere I legally can.

I carry a "dogged out" Arsenal AK-74 underfold. Tri-rail foregrip with a "BSA Laser Genetics" light and open sighted. I mounted a Trijicon RMR Parallex Free Sight on it, but took if off when trying to get sighted on the wild hogs that are eating up our state, and could not "acquire" sight before the hogs ran off in the dark. The light freezes them long enough for me to get six or seven at a time at night. We drag the big boars and sows off into a gulley and take the smaller pigs into town and go the the local black grocery store with the tail-gate down. The pigs are gone in about 30 minutes. My 11 year old son takes a SAR Romanian AK-47, with 40 rd mags and empties the magazine into the da*ned hogs while chasing them. He emptied his mag once and had to run back to the truck when a wounded sow turned on him. He was running and hollering "shoot....shoot" and he was between me and that sow. His mags are clamped and I ran to get an angle on that sow about the time he got the mag in the well and pulled the bolt and turned and started shooting again. Off they ran the other way. Looked like a 3 Stooges skit. I was laughing so hard I don't think I could have hit that sow anyway. I'm kinda known as the local "gun nut" so people don't look for trouble. Of course I avoid it even more since I got my CWP the first year the law went into effect. I'm not a 9mm or .40 cal type. Model 1911 .45 cal keeps you out of trouble. Makes a great big bulge and I might as well wear a sign that says "big gun". My 5'2" wife carries the Glock .40 cal so popular and expensive right now.

I've got a stainless 6 1/2 inch Taurus Tracker .357 that i guess might be ok for car duty. I do need a smaller carry gun too. and thanks it's good to be back. nice to see the revived gunsnet is reasonably lively

My glock 23 with about 5 mags goes every where that I go. It also stays in the vehicle. So, I'll never forget it. I also carry a Kahr p9 around the neighborhood with me. With one back up mag.

The last time that my in-laws were staying here. We got into a debate about needing a ccw. My FIL thought that if you were carrying a pistol, that every one would know. So, I kept my Kahr on me for three days (in the pants holster). As they were leaving the house, I raised my shirt, and said, hey dad. Bet you didn't know that I had this on me for the past three days! He was impressed.
