Have had some experience with Mo. rivers in flood. Managed to survive along with my buddy at the time, but learned to have a lot of respect for the power of water.

Can only hope that this father of three was as lucky as I was.

Missing for a prolonged period does not look good.

Please keep us posted.

We had a colonel once who drowned on Camp Pendleton... the Marines go out on 15 mile "humps" (hikes) or longer at a whim... Anyway, storm came up, and the river flooded... the guy was standing on the banks and it gave way. They found his body 3 miles down river.

I'm thinking, how the heck does someone drown like that? But apparently flood waters can come very quickly. When in Hawaii, in the hotel, you know how they have that one or two channels for advertising to ride helicopter tours, or whatever... there was a warning about flash floods and not to cross small streams and creeks as they can rise rapidly... just like this:

Here's what the other side of the waterfall looks like:

Until I saw the above video... I didn't realize how quickly a flash flood can happen... I thought the Hawaii video was just a safety joke. But now I see what can happen.

Wouldn't want to get caught in this one either:
