Got a quick question. I've been kicking around moding my Bushmaster XM15-E2S with an adams arms piston kit:

My question is that in looking at my AR, it seems like everything is "welded" to the barrel. It may be the paint/coating, but before I look too much more into this I was wondering if anyone has applied one of these kits to their carbine or not? The other option is to cough up $300 more and get a whole new upper which would I'd prefer not to have to do.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Your "IZZY" muzzle device is "blind pinned" to your 14.5" barrel - thus making it a legal 16"+ in length. In order to replace your front sight base with the Adams system, that blind pin will need to be ground just a little bit, then popped as the brake is turned off.

After all your equipment is put in place, a new 1.5"+ flash hider (Vortex, etc.) will need to be pinned back in place. After all the costs involved, it's almost cheaper to be a new barrel and install it yourself!!! ツ

Or, you could go with an Ares or other type of gas system that doesn't require the existing front sight base to come off...
