I just recently bought a Spikes Tactical upper from James Dunst the VP of ST through gunbroker. Came in two days and then bought a ST lower to match. Added an aimpoint pro a couple weeks later. I have taken it to a buddies place a couple times this summer and have been quite impressed. Shot well with iron sights but i couldnt help myself and got the aimpoint.
Specs:
Spikes Tactical Upper/lower
Troy rear sight
Aimpoint Pro
LaRue mount
nothing crazy

Me sightin' her in from 50 yards. not too shabby for a red dot newbie ( i dont have great eyes and a slight astigmatism)

100+ yard group. I believe this was luck. and my first group at that distance. didn't attempt another since it started to rain on me.
like i said about 2" .. i could barely see the target

Zeller - nice rig.

But I gotta comment - that picture of you shooting - are those people in the background - in front of your firing line? It looks like you're shooting and they're off to the left and forward... not safe at all - scary actually.

Please watch your range set-up - keep everybody behind your line of fire.

Sorry, but I'm an NRA certified rifle instructor and that pic just makes me cringe.

I understand your reaction. And trust me i would much rather shoot with everyone in a safe position ( that is what i am use too as most of us) .
I most recently started shooting at my co workers land and they have a very loosey goosey mind set and trust those who know what their doing. Most of all i trust myself. But honestly they have little worry about where i'm shooting. they stay by the cars and let the shooter do their thing. Yes, i agree this isn't by the book at all, and some will say its reckless, but these people have been doing this for 20+ years and have never had an accident ( not justifying it) its just the way life is. not my house not my rules.. if a bunch of 40yr olds dont wanna move so a 22yr old can shoot down range safely then i cant do much to change their mind. Just use the rest of my knowledge of safe shooting and roll with it.

edit: not much i can do...besides not shoot there.. <--- im sure many would suggest this

I understand that. Maybe you could just move up closer?

You don't have a location indicated on your profile - looks like Texas - dry dry.

Nice looking rifle. Questions; what is the twist rate of the barrel, what ammo were you using, brand and grain weight? OSOK has already touched on the firing point relative to bystanders. I have run into the same thing in the past elsewhere, several times. I don't go back to such places once I learn of them.

Barrel has 1:7 twist and i was only using American Eagle 55grain. It shot flawlessly for cheap ammo. I was able to get fairly consistent groups at 50 yards with the AE but the 100+yard group was my first and only group from that range..The 50yd picture i posted is probably the best of the day but not entirely misleading. I cant wait to see what i can obtain from some good ammo.
