Anyone have any experience with these? J&G sales has them for $470.00 - police trade in,i've wanted a semi-auto shotgun for a while and i can afford this

Just saw those too. Very tempting. I already use my mossy oak covered 11-87 3.5" for deer hunting, clays, and with 9-shot extention attached, 3-gun. Do like idea of them already having the shorter 18" barrel with rifle sights. Mine just uses stock 26" barrel with bead sight. Only issue I've had with mine is trying to run the gun faster than gas system can handle. Other than that it's been flawless, even runs better than people using the fancy new mossberg 930 spx tactical shotguns :D.

I was looking at the 930 but it's a little more than i wanted to spend

11-87s were the premier semi-auto shotgun a decade or two ago. Franchi's and Benelli's were considered elite, rare and uber expensive... and still are expensive! :p

They replaced the venerable 1100 back in the late 80s. As long as your gas system is clean, and there is nothing clogging up the action, they're great! ;)

Thanks i'll probably head up to Prescott saturday to find one i like, the only shotgun i've ever used is a pump, what should i look for when inspecting a semi auto

Just look for a clean action. It's gas operated, so it's possible for it to be dirty. Otherwise, it should run just fine!

I had to go to prescott today to look at a roof( well that's what i told the boss) and picked up the shotgun, it shows some cosmetic wear but seems solid. I downloaded the owners manuel from Remington and will disassemble it tomorrow to check the gas piston and o-ring and lube it up before taking it to the range.

Here it is,$513.75 with tax, found that replacement parts are easy to find at brownells and midway, and there are is a good variety of aftermarket upgrades available. Nice solid gun with a smooth tight action and the large cocking handle was a bonus. It has a tag on the buttstock that says VPD #23

Looks great, have you had a chance to take it out yet?

I picked up a 930 SPX a while ago and now I'm hooked on semi auto shotguns, saw the ad for the 11-87P in J&G too and was thinking about getting one, great price and your example looks to be in excellent shape.

I put a new style gas piston and new o-rings in it and it has functioned flawlessly with rifled slugs and 00 buckshot, and i'm hooked on semi-autos now too, maybe i'll pick up that mossberg after all :)

I love my 930, I've ran 00 buck and slugs, low recoil 00 buck & slugs, and even light target loads which all fed and functioned perfectly. I was really surprised about the light target loads. I may have to order one of the 11-87P's from J&G next!

Mt friends mother has a semi auto Remington 11-87 we use for skeet shooting. I think she used it for duck and goose hunting. I love using it for skeet shooting. I don't know why but it's just really comfortable and accurate with the sights they have on it.
