Nice looking bullets for a brand new mold. I take it that you are extremely mad at something and don't want him/it to forget you.

Looks like a wicked round! Can you post a pic of the rifle?

LOL, no. Just tired of the very expensive 220 gr Match Kings.

Of course.

Yeppers. I have not run them yet, but so far all the reports from the others that got this mold are 100% positive. I'll be doing a bit of load development early this week and post some vids.

Bore riders. Whats the BC on them? I'd think that you'd want VLD?

Is there enough powder behind those?

Don't know what the BC really is. There have been a couple of people post conflicting info on it and I really cannot remember what their claims were.

These are really for subsoinic use in the 300BLK. Plenty of room to get to 1010 - 1020 fps.

Moving this thread to a more appropriate forum - Reloading.

Speed of sound is 1080 fps at sea level. That said a VLD design is not a bullet you can cast and have it hold up to firing. I've done experiments with boat tailed cast projectiles and subsonic speeds. The boat tail gets mashed flat just about from the firing process.

Blowing up the image I see this is a bottom pour mold. Who made the mold?

The top drawing shows a gas check groove on the base the bottom, not. The pic of the boolits seems to be sans gas checks unless you're making your own out of aluminum or something... and I don't think so. (I have a 30 cal gas check maker myself).

You don't need a gas check for those velocities...

Mine do not have gas checks. I'm not sure but I think the mold is cut with a cherry that cuts for gas checks and then the maker goes in and removes that part of the mold manually - hence the line that looks like an aluminum gas check. I don't plan on running this bullets at velocities that would need a gas check. BUT, I do have a plain base gas check maker on order should I ever feel the need.

You getting it from the guy over on cast boolits? I forget his name - that's where mine came from. I haven't even given it a try yet. Everything's packed up for the coming move... (which is annoying as I keep wanting to do little projects...)

Looking forward to the range report!!

Yep, PatMarlin's CheckMaker. If I buy 1500 checks at market prices I would have spent the same as the purchase of the check maker. The math was real easy on that one.

I know what you mean about little projects. This week Is nothing but little lathe projects that I've been putting off. I didn't want to dirty the lathe on just one little project so I've been letting them build up. I never knew how much use a lathe could be untill I had one. One of the projects was to turn out a bushing from glass filled nylon for a cute little ceriamic "Welcome" sighn. The bushing to put the two peaces toghether was lost and do to the weight there was no "field expediate" that would work.

I also need to make a cap for the RCBS lubrasizer that is lost. One semi big project is to make a desplay case that will securly hold my headshells for my turntable. That one should be fun.

I also need to make a case mouth expander for the 300BLK - that one's taking priority over the headshell case though.

Yeah - PatMarlin - that's the guy.

I can't wait to get settled into our new place in Miss. - and I want to learn how to mill and such - I'd like to be able to make my own firearms. That'd be too cool.

I have a lot of ideas for inventions but lack the skills to make them myself. Being able to do that would be just excellent.

Not to mention that I could really do all of my own gunsmithing - I do most of it now as it is, but some things are just beyond my tooling and know-how.

Welding and such is another thing I want to do.

In time... in time.
