Ace AR adapter and Magpul CTR stocks. Both will end up looking similar to this one:

Got me thinking of getting one.Did they run perfectly out of the box?

Both of mine have ran 100%, I have thought about SBR'ing mine although using an UF'er stock on one.

You ought to go through the entire process, the forms, costs and everything, do you still have your blog?

:anim_beer-1: Congrats on the form 1's and SBR'ing a Draco. I definitely thought about one in .223 as a possibility. What is the chambering of the ones you have?

6 MONTHS??? OMG.
Is that the normal wait now?

Last I did it a few years ago it took 2 months.

Dang!

For awhile I've been considering doing this to the .223 caliber Dracos, but as soon as I thought of it I couldn't find one anywhere. I suppose I'll have to stick to good ole' 7.62.

Also, congrats on the SBR, keep us up to date!

Oh dear, it's been a while since I partook of any AK porn. I'm going to need a few moments alone...

OK, I'm back.:lool:

I can see doing one like that (minus the red-dot) and one with a Bulgy Krink side folder....:hoo-yeah:

No, they've been slammed post-Obama. Then I had to have a fight over a couple of clauses in my Trust with the reviewer, who finally acquiseced.

Schuetz, these are 762. Got them for a steal (sub $300 each) back when JG was having them for dirt cheap.

Mike, I'm going to be updating my blog and covering every detail, and once I do that, I'll post it here. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of when I did the basic stuff (removing the weld on the nut, etc), but that's pretty easy to explain.

Originally, I was going to do a trunnion swap. In fact, I have 2 Romy fixed trunnions and lever side folders. Then I thought about it and, for once, an AK with an AR stock actually appealed to me. So now I'll probably see what I can sell the trunnions and folders for.

AKTexas, one of mine was a bit "slow" re: sticky on the action. 300 rounds later no problems at all. That's really it for issues.

So here are my Dragons pre-Op:

http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/132/l_42b26904c30444db91e2f794083dfd31.jpg

Now the wait will be on the Ace AR-adapter/folding mechanism. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to pick up a brace of buffer tubes and ACS stocks.

I found these looking for mounting options.

AKT, I'm just doing a straight bolt on of the folding mechanism to the rear of the receiver.

As it happens, in my "Big Bag O' AK Stuff" I have an Ace 7.5" Skeleton stock AND folding mechanism, so if I can get my Rifles engraved over the weekend maybe some night next week I can go ahead and get one bolted on, detail the process, and then decide if I prefer the Skeleton stock over the AR style stocks.

Just another option. What is the tread size of the screws used on the ACE folders? And is the trunnion block on the Draco solid?

I think you got to go with a better lower profile folder then that one (VZ58), why do a SBR and then stick a 2 inch folding mechanism off the back end? If you're going to do that just buy a AMD and put up with an extra 2 inches on the front end saving the tax stamp stuff...

To have any stock on a that barrel length, SBR'ing is required.

I understand that, what I was saying is why go the SBR route then use overly long parts hanging off the ends to bring the OAL back to almost legal length of an AKM with a 16 inch barrel...just seems like a waste of a tax stamp :)

Yeah, I'm not feeling the 58 stock.:conf44:

Maybe a Draco, a folder and a fake can (PBS?) permanently attached since I don't have an extra 2 bills right now...:think2:

Actually, you're misunderstanding me.

You bolt the folding mechanism itself, whic is less than an inch thick, to the receiver. You do NOT use the Folding Block, which is four inches thick. The combination of receiver and virgin rear trunnion provides more than enough strength to anchor the actual hinge and stock itself.

I see what you're saying now.
Myself, I'd prefer a 5-7" barrel.

I like your idea, it's the other linked with the VZ trunion and long flashider I'm talking about. I think you're doing it right, it's theother one (on the cheap I guess) I don't understand.

Andy Gazaway (http://www.gazawaygunsmith.com/). He's quoted me $50 per, done while I wait. I'll probably drop by next Monday.

Update:

Just had both Dracos engraved today. Learn from my stupidity: Get your rifles engraved BEFORE you get the approval in the mail. That way you don't have to attempt to run down the one guy within 50 miles of where you live who will do the engraving while you wait...only to realize this guy lives on Parrothead time.

Cripes, what a headache.

Will probably be drilling & tapping tomorrow.
