Well I finally received my Romanian AK kit so I go looking at Harbor Freight for a bench multi angle vise. It is ridiculous how much they want for vises.
What size throat is best suited to be big enough for any part that I probably would need a vise. The reason I asked the price seems to be based on how far it will open like 2" versus 6". What size would probably be okay to by?

I don't see where you really need a multiple angle vice to build AK's. I just use a vise from Harbor Freight that is a cross feed. It has 2 handles on it that let you feed the part on the X & Y axis'. The angles are not needed but you will find that a cross feed is very useful for lining parts up with more precision.

Edit to add:
I just re-read the OP and think I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to a drill press vise instead of a bench vise... My bench vise has 4" wide jaws and it works perfectly for anything I need to do. Gun related or otherwise...
