I'll start with...

7.62x51 Standard load

168gr Sierra BTHP
41.5 gr IMR 4895 +/- 1 gr
Lake City or other military brass preferred
CCI #34 Primers or Wolf primers

308
08-12-2010, 02:27 AM
168gr Sierra BTHP
43.5gr Varget
Whatever brass I have...usually leftover Federal GM Match
CCI Primers

Problem I have is even with full case re-size, I have problems achieving 100% reliable chambering in the M1A...I'm sure it's just me though *ugh*

BTW Bi-Mart in Hillsboro has all its powder back in stock. Picked up some Reloader 10x over the weekend.

I am very curious.

Are you guys having problems with Springfield Armory M1A's.....or all semiauto M14's in general (I am already assuming the answer) but again I am very curious, and I'd like to know why....

I have a Springfield Loaded model and use standard RCBS dies and have never had a single problem with case sizing. I've run both machine gun fired brass and bolt action stuff and it all works the same. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I use regular full length sizing dies for my M14/M1A. Some will go with the small base sizing dies to squeeze the diameter down a few micro hairs more to improve reliability in semi-autos, but I have not found the need.

I think you and i are the only guys here that own one, i haven't mounted my equipment yet but i plan on trying a few loads for the VEPR. I still need to do a little grinding on my dust cover to keep it from dinging up my brass.

I have read that gluing a piece of rubber on the dust cover helps.

I took my Vepr out a couple of weeks ago and examined the brass and the dust cover. The brass is not damaged and I do not have any markings on my dust cover,I guess mine is dumping the brass just right.

Next time i shoot it i'll save some of the brass and post some pics of it,maybe you can help me out, maybe has something to do with the extractor on mine? not sure but it's done it since i bought it new in 1997
