The first Republican presidential primary may be more than two months away, but some Democrats are convinced that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/mitt-romney/) will be the eventual GOP (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/republican-party/) nominee — and they already are rolling out their general election attack strategy.
Speaking on NBC (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/nbc/)’s “Meet the Press” (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/meet-the-press/) on Sunday morning, White House (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/white-house/) senior adviser David Plouffe (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/david-plouffe/) said Mr. Romney (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/mitt-romney/) “has no core,” an assault on the Republican front-runner’s track record of changing positions on issues. Many conservatives also remain skeptical of Mr. Romney (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/mitt-romney/), who is seen as especially vulnerable to charges of flip-flopping but remains at or near the top in most polls.
Businessman Herman Cain (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/herman-cain/) is now Mr. Romney (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/mitt-romney/)’s biggest threat and has overtaken him in Iowa, polls show.
On Sunday, however, Mr. Plouffe (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/david-plouffe/) all but ignored questions about Mr. Cain (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/herman-cain/) and instead directed his fire at Mr. Romney (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/mitt-romney/), a sign that the Obama administration thinks other Republican candidates ultimately will falter.

I watched that show. I don't know if I ever saw or heard Mr. Plouffe before but as a man to take advice from I would rather try and have a deep conversation with my neighbors dog. He is stupid even for a dog but he doesn't lie or bad mouth anybody. I am surprised he isn't an office holder because he answered every question exactly like a politician. I really believe he attacked Romney to get him a sympathy vote from Republican viewers and ignored everybody else to try and minimize them.
