Never had one but I want one for email, surfing and watching movies. Also use it for changing maps and firmware on my ATV. Staples sent me an email for the Toshiba C655-S5343.
Looks good to me and at $400.00 it's 30% off. A clerk at staples said it was a store exclusive. Not even listed on Toshiba's web site and no reviews.
Anybody have the Toshiba Satellite Laptops?

I had a Toshiba laptop several years ago for things that I couldn't do with a Mac back then . . . it was a good solid machine . . . I'm guessing for that price the RAM isn't maxed but thats a cheap and easy DIY upgrade

Take a look at Dell laptops. They are quite well priced and very good quality.
I have a Toshiba laptop, different model, but I've worked on a few too. It works well for what I need to do on it.

Specs look reasonable for $400.
I'd recommend getting a mouse for it though, those touchpads are nice in a bind but suck for trying to get anything productive done.

I'll second the thought on the mouse. A cordless mouse is 1000 times better than the damned touch pad.
