Big Brown showed up today with my new M4 LE.
It looks identical to my M4 5.56.
This one has the ceramic finish. After wiping it down, the finish has a nice, even look to it. Pics do not do it justice
I opened the upper, pulled the charging handle and noticed the bolt/carrier took an extra tug to get out. I thought it was just a tight unit. When I pulled it and inspected the B/C I see CMMG is using a spring detent pin on the barrel collar and a groove one the barrel itself to keep the B/C from moving. Great Job.
That has been an issue with other dedicated uppers. If the B/C can move it will cause feeding problems.
I ran 2 mags suppressed in my basement for a function check.
It went through both mags without a hitch.
The gas deflector is also a nice touch. No more smack in the face from gas/powder.
The trigger is better than most I've tried from the factory. It's not a match trigger by any means but not bad.
I'll use the set screw mod on it and clean it up before heading to the range.
I am very happy with it. I'll follow up after my range trip.
Here it is as it came.

Glad to hear it. What brand of ammunition are you using?

I haven't been to the range yet, except my basement with a can, but generally my favorite is the Winchester 555 bulk.
I use Fed bulk but it has become so spotty, I just try to avoid it.
I'm going to try a variety through this to see what it will feed.
I'll post my results.

I've heard that CCI mini mags are produced too long to allow a full strike of the firing pin. Looking forward to the results, I think you should be very pleased.

I have not heard that. Could be.
In my other conversions I've shot mini mags and CCI Stingers. The stingers have more Ummph, but have not been accurate for me.

I got to the range today with the CMMG M4 LE .22.
I can honestly say I'm impressed.700 rounds, not one malfunction with the exception of Remington Subs. They just will not feed.
Keep in mind, this is with a new stock G.I. trigger.
Ammo was:
Federal 550 Bulk 36 gr. HP
Federal Champion 40 gr.
CCI Mini Mag HP
CCI Stinger
Winchester 555 Bulk 36 gr. HP
Kind of windy, 90 degrees, low humidity
Range was 25 yards
UTG 1-4 X scope

Looks like the CCI mini mags are the what the rifle likes. Stock up.

Thats great! I am so tempted to do this but my 10/22s would get jealous. Looks like fun!

The best feature of these to me is the ability to set it up exactly like your duty rifle(if you have a duty rifle) or your current 5.56 set up. At 50 yards the .22 will be close enough in accuracy to the 5.56 for inexpensive training, and trigger time.
Weight is nearly identical, minus the small difference in the weight of the BCG.
I can even use the same lower on my 5.56 if I want.
And now with the price that CMMG is selling them at, it's a heck of a deal.
I paid more for my Spikes .22 upper than this complete rifle.

I just dropped a 2 stage trigger in it. I,m looking forward to seeing how it shoots with that installed.
My 10/22's just set in the safe since I have this. Still great little rifles but I never had near the fun I do with the M4 LE
