Sears used to sell guns and even sold Sears brand guns. The .22 I cut my teath on was a Montgomery Ward.

Did I read that Sears ad correctly? Their upper has a 14.7" barrel? That had to be something else, right?

Yep, Sears, JC Penny's, "Monkey Wards", Otasco (regional chain) and even Western Auto were great places to buy guns and ammo back in the good ol' days. My first serious shotgun was a Sears' Ted Williams (Winchester) 20 gauge, ordered out of the catalog.

so.....you can buy gun stuff from Sears but they are quite unfriendly to gun carry in their stores. i for one will not patronize Sears anymore nor will i buy online from them.

Don't forget Coast to Coast stores. My first 22 and 12 gauge, both Marlins, were bought at the local C to C.

Ill second Western Auto for guns, My 12 gauge is marked Western Auto. Its a rebadged Mossy 500.

I know Sears has a long history connected w/ guns but I have no idea why a toy store would be selling bore sights? :wondering:

They're measuring it wrong. These .22 conversions have an extended barrel that reaches back almost an inch and a half further into the receiver than the .223/5.56 setup, so it has the same overall length as an M4 rifle, but actually has a 16" long rifled barrel.

I bought a Enfield No.5 jungle carbine from K-Mart or Big-K (one of the two) back in 1969
$60 and it was in very good condition. Dad bought a 7mm Mauser there the same day, $40.
