I could care less what Brits think proper English should be. I do like how Brits pronounce the word "depot" though.

(Going back to holding down my fort. )

There's true irony in GTL posting somethng like this.

Lefty, you live in a country where a slight inflection in one's dialect is grounds to disqualify one from a job. The Aristocracy have established one's speech as an essential element of social status and mobility (or lack thereof).
While the video is mildly amusing (I guess....) I find it more amusing that one such as yourself, presumably an advocate of expaded economic equality among citizens, doesn't understand why we speak the way we do.
Far back in American history Daniel Webster made a point of reinventing spellings if not pronunciations to differentiate our language from Queen's English. It is a pattern that continues to this day. It may be a point of ridicule to you, but it is one small part of the individual liberty that our Founders established and it has helped keep snobby discrimination at bay.

And yes, I KNOW that in most cases one must still be reasonably well spoken to succeed but we are FAR from the systemic discrimination you lot enjoy. Wait, strike "you lot", insert you all (or y'all).....
Good thing y'all have the dole to prop ya up while you are held down by the upper crust.

Good stuff !!

Educated Brits will often, in private of course, give us credit for correcting some of their more painful spellings.

The receivers of my AR-15s are made of al-U-minium, but you wouldn't know about that. The queen, despite her impeccable grammar and accent, won't allow you to handle one.

Don't blame the Queen. She doesn't make law. Unfortunately it was a hysterical Parliament after the Hungerford Massacre of 1997 that banned auto loading rifles. Tony Blair pushed for this (something I dislike him intently for, which is ironic since I fully appreciated his strong stance to support AMERICA during 9/11 and afterwards even though it cost him his job. Regardless of whether anyone analyzes what we did, I appreciate it when someone stands up for us and takes their licks accordingly).

Don't be a douche :D You're lucky to live in a place where you can own almost anything. When I look at countries or places where the government restricts firearms ownership, I don't attack the victims of these policies. BTW, I remember what it was like to be a gunowner in Longmont, CO right after the 1998 Columbine shootings. Not a good time to be a g un owner.

Tony Blair is quietly a Fabian Socialist. The Hungerford incident was merely a massacre of opportunity. (A massacre at Wellfedford would have done just as well.)

I was a gun owner in Longmont CO as well (Still am) and it really wasn't all the diffrent for me... :oh: guess I don't see your point with that comparison.

HOWEVER it changes nothing, bolt action AR is still adorable, it's like it's ALMOST a big boys gun... 'cept is English.

sorry but you got you're facts wrong.
Hungerford was in 1988 which resulted in SLR's being banned by maggie thatcher. in 1996 we had dunblane which resulted in all handguns except the .22's being banned by john major. then in 1997 tony blair extended the ban to cover .22's.

Every British leader since Winston Churchill has been a walking vagina anyway. It's hard to keep it all straight.
