I'm going to put this in the marketplace for $650, It is brand new, I just don't like it because the barrel threads were turned down.

If the muzzle is still approx. .500" you can thread it to 1/2x28 and install a standard looking slant brake.

1/2 28 wouldn't bite!

So you're saying it is smaller than the diameter required to thread it 1/2 -28?

Another 52 bucks. If you can stomach the ass raping on the prices this is what it would take to put a brake on your rifle with a bayonet lug as well. All available from our cheap-skate price gouging chums at Kvar.

Too big! That front sight block with threads looks like the best way to go.

What's too big? That's the AKM frong sight and AK74 brake system which will also work on your 7.62 version.

I'll have to try that.

Or tap the existing barrel that is left to whatever will work, and thread on a sleeve that can then be threaded to the size you need. I wouldn't trust something like that if I were screwing a sound suppressor on, but otherwise it should work fine and it should be much cheaper than replacing the whole front sight assembly for the 74 style brake. Once the slant brake is installed, no one will ever know.
