WOW! That's spectaculary affordable.

I follow AAC on facebook, and I've seen their uppers and ammo... but to be honest, I haven't read the descriptions to see what all they hype is about.

So, what is the hype about the 300 Blackout?

Mark. I would suggest visiting the link below to give you some background on the .300 Blackout (a.k.a. 7.62x35mm).

It's a midrange cartrdige that feeds out of stock M16 mags. Offers 2000 fps 123 gr. loadings and really heavy 220 gr.( give or take 20 grs.) subsonic loadings. I'm not sure what most civilians would be doing with it, possibly as a home defesnse weapon with the heavy rounds and a suppressor. Quiet, no hearing protection needed, yet hard hitting.

For L.E. applications, it's a great round for an entry weapon with a short barrel. Hard hitting, less flash than a 5.56, subs with a suppressor sound like a pellet gun, yet can hit at 300 yards with high velocity comparable with 7.62 x 39 ammo.
That is with a 9" barrel.

Humm, I'm having trouble posting a video from photobucket. Any suggestions?

Is that really a good deal? Figure two hundred for the barrel and that leaves 120 for the upper receiver. That doesn't sound like that good of a deal to me. It's much cheaper than AAC for sure but still cheaper to get a CMMG barrel through Brownells (only about 180 if you get a discount through them) and a no name upper to put it on.

Please forgive my ignorance. What is the twist for this caliber? There seems to be quite a range of bullet weights.

Q:What the best twist rate?
A: The suggested SAAMI twist rate is 1:8, which seems to be the best for a 50/50 mix of subsonic and full power ammo. 1:7 may end up the best overall twist though as it can shoot a wider range of bullets. If you are sure you will never shoot subsonic ammo, you could consider 1:12 - however there is currently no proof that would offer an advantage. In fact, for very light / short bullets - 110 grain SierraŽ and BergerŽ, 1:8 twist factory test barrels were averaging 0.8 to 0.9 MOA at 100 yards for 25 shots (three groups of five shots each). It is important to note that no flyers were discarded from this testing, and that three shot groups - as people casually do - would show a much smaller group size. 5x5 groups, however, is probably the minimal amount of testing for having a meaningful basis for comparison.
