I have been looking for a S&W model 65 with a 3 inch barrel for years at the gun shows. I finally bit the bullet and bought a Rossi 3 inch revolver last Friday which Academy had on sale at a good price. So..............at the Market Hall show in Dallas today, I come across 4 of them. The 400-500 buck price tags made me walk away though. In addition, Mosin Nagant model 44s are in the 400 buck range now. I am glad I bought mine when they were cheap.....chris3

Typical. I went to a gunshow also, was actually looking for a cheap 38, I had eye'd the Armscor copy of the colt at the last show at $199, this show I saw only 1 at $299, wasn't going for it.

But it wasn't a total loss, came across an old gent selling a S&W M&P pre model 10, 5 screw 5 in barrel in very decent shape for $250, which I brought home. Hopefully it's a good shooter.

I'd be curious to know what you think of that Rossi, that's a 357 right?

Yeah, it is a 357. I have not shot it yet but it looks good and has a very nice single action trigger and a smooth double action trigger, even though it is a bit heavy. It will probably bite my middle finger as there is not much room between the trigger guard and grip. Feels good in the hand though......Academy had a big stack of them at 5am last Friday....chris3

I don't think we have an Academy within a couple hundred miles of here, I take it this was a special they had going? I think I see those around here at $300-325ish, which doesn't seem bad, but I know one local place is still offering S&W 38 snubbies at like $350, can't remember the model offhand

There were very little in the way of 38/357s at the show for under $400, I think I saw one charter arms at $299, but it was DAO.

Actually one guy had 3 Taurus that I guess was a CAI import special deal at some point he was selling at $250, obviously some countries old service revolvers, condition was less than ideal

I love my stainless 3 inch M65, IMO it's the best revolver I own.

WTF ???

Seriously Wart would you pay $400 for a M44? I remember getting one in the early 70's from a guy that just got back from the 'Nam traded a gram of hash for it then found out the only available ammo was Norma and it was $25 a box . . shot half the box and traded it off for 2 grams and still lost money

OK I get it now but we all got to get over this racial sensitivity about certain things if the black community can *****, *****, ***** then whitey can use it in context, kind of a homage to Lenny Bruce

Your choice of course. Remember Lenny (Leonard Alfred Schneider) was a heroin addict and I suspect you are not.

you are correct on both points 1. I don't use H 2. Lenny was an addict but he was still insightful and had great social commentary . . . which brings me to point #3 we whiteys just don't have anything in the king's english which translates as well as "*********" (add your own emphasis) for when we're confronted with the ridiculous

It was not just one M44 for 400 bucks, there were at least a dozen throughout the show in the 375-425 buck range..How about two MAS 36 for 550 bucks each.......chris3

Are you talking about a Russian M44 for $400?

Wouldn't surprise me. Last couple of shows when I see them it's either a stack of them at about $140 or a few here and there for $300+. Most seem to be nothing special, but if you ask the guy why so much it becomes all "Tula this, this tiny mark is "rare" that, pre-war sling slot escutcheons" Most of the time it's obvious bullshit. Some people are just ridiculous in their pricing.

samiam, try to stay on topic and leave the racial slurs in the toilet.

Your right about that. Same thing on GB "mine is ultra-rare" or "never fired" "tula made & stalin kissed it" Shit the Russians literally made almost 8 million of them from 43 to 48 Then the Polish army Hungarian army, oh well the 2 I have a buried in a tube up in Idaho.

I thought M44 rifles were like $60 or so?
