The same thought crossed my mind. Didn't the SAS release hostages at the Iranian embasy in Britan back around 1980 or something?

If I were the Brit PM, I would simply send a message to akmadeedajihad stating that his people have committed an act of war and that if the hostages are not returned unharmed within 48 hours, the UK will respond militarily.

And then do the minute past 48 hours if they don't comply.

I would hit all of of their governmental buildings in addition to the nuke sites of course.

I would then inform them that any negative response by them will result in a 10 fold response from the UK and oh, by the way, you have 24 hours to return the hostages unharmed... or the 10 fold response happens anyway. Kill or harm the hostages and it's total war.

They will only understand this. Nothing short will move them.
