I ran across a 9" AK pistol part kit.
I was wondering, if I brought the kit and completely assembled it.......
would it be a SBR or a pistol? :read:

If built on a virgin or pistol receiver it could easily be a legal pistol, if you do the stamps and add the ability to take a shoulder stock a SBR.

At this point it's nothing but a collection of parts, it can be almost anything you build it as.

This is good news.
It's time for me to build a pistol !!!!

That's going to be nice. Thoughts on furniture?

AMD-65 fits with no mods. I'm thinking of a rail system to mod and rail covers.
I might remove the AK front sight and install an AR version.

The kit came from ak-builder Gonzo.

Just remember no forward pistol grips on a pistol build...

I find it odd you have the ability to make a receiver from a flat but didn't know you could legally build a pistol. Now be honest were you sand bagging us with this question and just showing off a b!tch'in pistol kit? :)

Nah, I forgot a few of the rules/laws.
Metal bending is easy, trying to stay up to date with atf is a different story.

Since you are bending the receiver, just make sure that the rear is sealed with no obvious attempt at adding a rear tang. Also since you are bending it, my 2 cents would be to etch "Pistol" into the receiver. Can't be too safe when dealing with a group that ignores the constitution.

I think I'm gonna stamp "Pistol" into it and "U.S.A." on parts that doesn't have anything on them.
I'm gonna weld the back and grind smooth.

Your kit comes with a nice pistol rear trunnion, it even has what looks like a quick disconnect attachment point. There's really no need to weld up a nice rear trunnion like that, all you need to do is make it so it can't readily accept a shoulder stock...

Nice kit!
IIRC
You don’t have to worry about USA made parts on a pistol. That only applies to rifles.

It's a good habit to have.
Who knows, they might change that rule today.
