Yeah, before the ban on their import, I bought 2 PolyTech AKs with the folding bayos
for $265 each.

This is exactly the point. The MAK-90 is unfortunately becoming a classic since they were banned and there now is a fixed number in the land of shall not be infringed. I never dreamed that I would call the MAK-90 a classic, but with the newest one almost 20 years old, they have become the last of the breed of true 100% factory AK variants.

Yes you can take a wire brush and rust remover and clean it up, and yes it probably still shoots nicely (after you clean the rust from the rails) but by refinishing it you have destroyed it's value. Even Norinco AK variant shooters will hold their value because of existing laws, but when one has gone through what this one has, it is just a sad thing.

Compared to the lister's other two rust buckets, it is a good thing that Mr. K. mandated the chrome lined barrel and the Chinese built them to that spec.

In the listing by this seller it says the previous owner stored these guns 'in his attic' which I guess must have leaked terribly.
Still I am sure this weapon would still fire 'as is' and could be brought back to respectability with some work, re-finish and possibly some new parts required. That's the fly in the ointment, would you spend enough to make the project not worth the bother. You can usually find decent AK's in the $500 range pretty easily.

Exactly what I was thinking ! Worse case cut it up and rebuild it ....parts kits are going for more then 300 now ...

Don't wire wheel it! Use a good fine sand, or glass blasting, then coat it. That MAK can be easily restored.
