Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - An ordinance to ban fake guns in the city of Moorhead is on hold.

City leaders discussed the proposal to ban people from carrying fake guns that look real, but have not agreed to implement it. Some see it as infringing on people's rights to bear arms.

There is already a law in place making it a felony to use a fake gun in a threatening way. The new ordinance was an attempt to make simply carrying the fake gun a misdemeanor

MSUM on Lockdown After Suspected Armed Robbery

2009-11-09MOORHEAD, MN -Three masked men dressed in black were the object of a large-scale police search in south Moorhead after a reported home invasion-type robbery.
It happened about 8:30 Sunday night at Campus Air Apartments at 908 8th Street, Moorhead.
Police say at least one shotgun and a handgun were displayed by the intruders. They haven't said what the men got away with.
The robbery prompted a campus-wide lockdown at Minnesota State University Moorhead and a campus wide alert at Concordia College.
Dylan Bradt, a dispatcher for MSUM secutiry, said all buildings at Minnesota State University Moorhead were locked down at 8:45 p.m. due to the suspected robbery.
A text message was sent to students shortly before 9 p.m. stating that three suspects in the robbery in the area of 8th Street south and 9th Avenue were last seen running southeast. The message also indicated the suspects were dressed in black and carrying a shotgun, a handgun and a green backpack.
No one was hurt.

I thought the name of that town was familiar. So will banning toy guns help with the real problem. :laughingtohard: What a huge bunch of morons. You would think they would be far enough away from Minneapolis/St. Paul that they wouldn't be caught up in the looney toons.
