Shotgun ammunition.What do you use for self defense?

I typically use 2 3/4" 00 buck shot,but I'm thinking maybe I should mix it up a little.

What do you use and why?

I use Remington Law Enforcement Reduced Recoil 00 buck. I use it because my neighbor gave me 5 boxes of it.

Federal has a nice 00 buck tactical load that really holds a tight pattern. Its 2.75". They also have a nice rifled slug.

I have a case of #4 for my 20 gauge and a case of #4 for my 12 gauge and a case of #3 shot for my 10 gauge. I think I am covered. Full choke on 12 and 10 gauge and IM for my 20 gauge so it doesn't get wasted, target gets it all at in house distance.

I got a case of 00 buck five or six years ago and still have it sitting in my safe...
Then for some reason I bought 600 shells from AIM of the nobel 000 Buck police ammo when they had it on sale..

So I usually stagger them in my defense shotgun, then put a slug as the last one...

I can never remember if I'm supposed to put the slug in first or last so its always all shot or all slug. The end result is the same under 20'.

Since I've got neighbors all around I stay away from buckshot and slugs. I use my g21sf as my main home defense gun but I keep some kind of heavy birdshot on my shotgun's side saddle just in case. Usually some 2.75 #6 or #4. I have live in a small ranch so either will leave a world of hurt on somebody at such "close" range.

I bought 250 rds of Wolf Power Buckshot (2-3/4 / 9 X 00) a few years back that's a monster. It's made by Breneke, which I think is German. Out of a 20" barrel the blast is heavy and it emits a flame the size of a basketball. I think if I used it on people it would cut them in two and then still go through the wall. Ears would be shot as well.

I buy the generic "police buckshot" from aim. It's okay, I don't play shotgun that much compared to other weapons.

I have an old story about just that sound.

I had a douche-bag next door neighbor.He would party all night,etc.His girlfriend on more than one occasion called the cops on his ass for domestic violence yet she stayed with him.

I got really fed up with the shit and decided it was time to clean the shotgun outside on the landing.We lived on the third floor so this was out of sight of anyone other than me and the neighbor.As he was walking up the stairs and as he got to the last set of stairs,I racked the slide,the fucker raised his head his eyes bugged out and ever since that day I was called sir and did not get woke up by loud ass music.

I'm not an elite tactical swat commando, so I just use 2.75" 00 buck Winchester from walmart. I haven't done any dynamic entries with it, but something tells me that its sufficient for across the room work.

Well looks like the the 00 buck shot is the common round with a small mix.

After some pricing I think I will stay with the 00 buck shot and maybe some slugs.

I have an older 12 ga. SxS double trigger so I can send mixed loads at the same time. Skeet barrel gets a 2.75" 00 buck, IC barrel gets a 3" #4 buck (40 pellets). If that isn't enough, I drop that and grab the AK with a 40 rd. banana in it.
