Is the standard wood finish on a WASR-10 safe to take outside on a dreary day?

A buddy of mine wants to sight in his red dot on his WASR-10 tomorrow but since it has been raining and there is a chance for rain tomorrow, he is a little concerned about taking it out in a humid or dreary environment sense he is not sure if the wood has a seal on it.

it's an AKM, it will be fine. it was made to get wet and dirty.

besides, wouldn't he be more concerned about getting the metal wet and maybe getting some rust started?

i have had various rifles out in the weather including heavy downpours and none of them are worse for wear. don't baby the thing. take it out and shoot it!
