Hi, all.
I have been trying to access the AK information area of AK.47.net (ours) to find out about Chinese magazine proof marks; every time I hit the link it takes me to a 404 page which accuses me of, quote: "snooping around here"...Anybody know whats up w/ the site? Anyone know where I can access info. on Polytech magazine proof marks? Been all over the net w/ Google, can't find shit; I KNOW the info. is here but can't access it....?

Polys came with and without chrome followers. About any Chinese partern mag with a chrome follower is a good bet to be poly. Many/most are stamped "Poly" and "Made in China". My mags are 700 miles away or I could pull a few and post pics.

Even my Poly drum is stamped "Poly". They have a sping loaded winding key that is held tight to the drum so no rattle.

And, Poly Tech mags were the only ones with three witness holes along the spine area to see how much ammo was loaded. If the Chinese mag has three holes along the back, it is a Poly Tech mag, otherwise it isn't.

And to be honest, I don't remember ever looking at a Chinese mag to see if they had proof marks or any stampings because Chinese mags were and are obvious by design.

I've got a Euro-pattern with a triangle 66 stamp on it, other than that, everything else is standard Chinese fare. Rolled seam on the back, double horizontal reinforcement ribs on the base.

I forgot they did make a couple with the Euro type spine on the back. Must be age or something silly like that. :smiley31: But the OP did ask about Poly Technologies. :eyebrows:

I have 3 mags purchased in the early 1980s and they have no markings. They have never been inserted in my AK but cleaned of cosmoline. What make could they be?

Skip, those look to be Norinco. One witness hole, not three, no chrome follower, no "Poly" stamp.

Is it just the camera angle or do those look like chinese 5.56 mags?
They look too straight to be 7.62.
Side photo too pls.

I think it is just the angle... side picture I'd know for sure, but they look 7.62 to me.

Yep, standard 7.62x39 Norinco mags... Nice and in great shape, but not really rare. Those are one of my favorite AK mags, I like the smooth spine as it make mag changes a pleasure...
