Muzzle break

does my AK 47 have to be 922r compliant to get it tapped for a muzzle break because i was told that muzzle breaks were a compliant part

Technically yes, since you are changing the imported configuration of the rifle. And they are "brakes". :D

Don't get me started on "AK47" or "AK-47" or "AK 47". You don't have one, guaranteed! ;)

Yes, threading the barrel requires 922 parts. It is legal to "pin-on" a brake, with out 922 compliance (Federal law). Be careful though, some states laws state that flashhiders can not be pinned on (with out the added US parts).
