Is anyone here into swords? I have a few swords and machetes that pass for swords, mostly in the one-hand size. I have a Cold Steel 2-hand +, Katana-type machete/sword, that I find a little unwieldy with such a long grip. The one-hand swords are ok, but I like the idea of using two hands if I choose and these don't lend themselves to that option.

So far, I've narrowed down my search to this one. It's a hand-and-a-half sword, blued blade and fully tempered.

Are their any other places I can look to see if they have anything that is comparable?

I don't want a wall hanger. I may never use it, but I want it fully functional anyway, capable of giving and taking hits without damage.

Thanks for your input.

I love swords. I have three wall hangers, but like you if i was to buy another it will be the real deal. That requires a few more pennies than I'm willing to part with at this time.

I have my Naval Officer's Sword and I would like to get a Chief Petty Officer's cutlass. Both are ceremonial, though there is definately a range in quality. My Officer's sword is Korean War Era. Next time I get home I will take a picture and post it.

As for real swords, I have to agree with BTCave. I would love one, but they are pretty expensive.

The 1917 Cutlass is probably my favorite out of their offerings, but they make solid versions of just about every sword design you can imagine at a reasonable price. Might not be the greates Katana ever made, but their Claymore and Chinese Buterfly swords are probably even better steel than the originals.

The common complaint I hear about cold steel swords is they don't handle well. I'm sure they are far more durable then anything used historically.
