Buck / Tops CSAR-T
Well it finally came! And it is awesome. It’s got a great heft and feels fantastic in the hand. And talk about BEEFY, this knife is exceedingly well made.

The blade is a tanto-esque shape that includes some features of a drop point. It is a THICK Bos treated 154-CM.

Here is the thickness compared to a 110.

The Sheath is cool and well made, it has a few ways you can carry it including Molle. But like other buck sheathes, this is made in China.

I Have to say, it’s a LOT of knife for the cabbage and it just BEGS to be put through hard use. I look forward to rotating this into my EDC. If I was to get stuck out in the wild with only one folder... I prey it would be this one.

Congratulations! I didn't even realize that they switched from ATS-34 to 154-CM. Must have been sometime last year? Think I'll try and find one of the ATS-34 before they are all gone.

Really? My experience with 34 was pretty negative as it started rusting in the first year I owned it after I was Vacationing in California. I know I was near the Ocean, but still.

ATS-34 and 154-CM virtually identical stainless steels. ATS-34 was/is made in Japan and 154-CM is the American made equivalent. Any issues you had with one will be present in the other.

I'm wanting the ATS-34 (at least in this instance) because Buck evidently only used it for the first year this model was released. That makes the ATS-34 version more desireable, at least to me as a collector. The Buck folding Alpha Hunter is the same way. It was offered in ATS-34 then 154-CM. Now it's C12C27M Sandvik. Still a great steel but the other two steels are now much harder to find.

Maybe it was because it was a Benchmade thing, something to do with the way they finished it, or heat treated it? It was an older knife.

So how's it been holding up for you over the last two months? Still haven't gotten one myself. Found a dealer online with a great price on one listed as ATS-34 but before I got around to contacting them to verify it, it dropped off their site. May just go ahead and get one of the current models and just keep my eye out for the earlier version on the secondary market.

Dude, it has been kicking ass, I have used it and carried it EVERY day. It has been AMAZING, I have used it to scrape gaskets, pry shit open, open doors, normal knife shit as well. Thing just kicks all my other folders right in the nuts. I HIGHLY recommend this knife.

It looks like a folding oyster knife.

It looks like a folding oyster knife.

It could serve as that too.
