I finally decided to get that sword I was thinking of. I figured if I didn't do it now, it may never get ordered.

Well, it came today and it's a beaut. It's a little bigger than I expected as I was thinking it was a hand-and-half sword, but it's a two-hand sword. However, it's very well balanced and moves where I want it to move with ease. I ordered it sharpened and there's no doubt it'll slice through my finger if I'm not careful. The blade is well tempered and doesn't feel the slightest bit "spongy" when wobbled back and forth.

Attention to detail is top notch and it does look like it could have been forged by elves. Not a machine mark on it anywhere. All surfaces are smooth and glossy. The blade is blued to a blackish tint. The leather covered grip doesn't feel slippery and the scabbard is a tight fit. I ordered the double wrap belt and it appears to be an improvement over the one pictured in the catalog as it can be angled so it doesn't hang straight down. The scabbard fit the frog perfectly without any adjustment.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the whole thing. Now, all I have to do is find and subdue a dragon and fly out to meet the evil zombie horde. :)

Just the thing for the Zombie Apocalypse! I can see the heads flying now off that sucker .. SWOOOSH! (Plop)

It looks good, very good in fact. I lean more Ninja or Katana type myself. Got a cheap set, but someday I plan to get a good one.

So are you now going to go dress up and wander around Renaissance Festivals? :cigarsmoking:

That good sir is a fine looking sword for sure! I've been buying blades here and there with a tomahawk mixed in the collection, but I am yet to get a sword. But I have been looking around for one. Damn I need a sword.

If I get another sword, my first choice is probably one of these:

Yeah, that's the company I'd like to get one from. Not that expensive from what I see, sub $300 range.

So, have you done any cutting yet?

For that late night burglar and you don't want to wake up the kids or the neighbors. That is some nice iron.

No. All I've done so far is clean the shipping oil off the blade and re-oiled it.

A set of directions, on how to make a practice target that won't scratch the blade, came with it and I put them in a place where I wouldn't lose them (I haven't seen them since). I'll find them and get started on making a few targets so I can get practicing with it. It does feel good in the hand, though.

My favorite targets (most backyard cutters favorite targets?) are water filled plastic bottles. Milk jugs are easy, soda bottles are medium, and the thick, tough plastic bottles are of course hard. Also, pool noodles are a great target. If your blade alignment is wrong, they just flop over, but if you get it right.... nice little pieces :D.
