It's been classified as a GPMG (general purpose mg) for several decades now.

Ah I see, gotcha. This model does look CONSIDERABLY lighter than the M240

I think there are plenty of 7.62mm LMGs laying around. Though I guess there could be a debate over how light is light.

Sounds interisting. I wonder if a semi-auto only version will be avalible for us. Some how I doubt it.

Is the M240 select-fire? When I was a "Magist" in the IDF my Mag58 was only full-auto. To do single shots we learned to do a kind of "slip-pull" of the trigger to fire only one round. I would have liked the select-fire option.

The regular 240 does not have a semi-auto option. Though if you have the money you can buy a semi-auto only version. If I am not mistaken though some one is working on a version that will fire semi as well as full auto.
