Took my son out shooting. Only brought 4 rifles. .30 carbine, sar 1, sks d, and his ar. Went to a private range that I have a key to. It's a converted quarry.

Getting ready.

Looks fun, not taking too many guns is always best with the kids. Good parenting there if you ask me :)

Thanks. We took more ammo than guns. Son asked if we could bring some guns that we "normally" don't bring. I asked him what he wanted to shoot. He told tme that he wanted to shoot an sks, and ak. So, I figured with the mags that I had loaded up. The sar and sks d would be perfect, as both take the same mags. I put the ar stock on the sar 1 so that my son would be able to shoulder it better for him. I didn't shoot that much. Though I asked him if he wanted to do a mag dump. We did. Him with the ak, me with the sks.

He was like. "Dad, I have always wanted to do a rapid fire mag dump!"

I did bump a mag. He was speechless. His response. "Dad, I wanna."

Before he could finish the sentence. I said....NO!!

The "range" that we went to, I have a key. Know the owners pretty well. It used to be the local training place. Shoot house, 1/4 mile uphill run, etc. Now mostly the guys get together on Wednesday nights have a few beers, get away from wives/girlfreinds,
chuck the bottles to the bottom of the quarry and see who hits it first. I am lucky to be able to go there when I want with who I want and have quality time.

Son did want to shoot his deer rifle. That was the last one that we shot. For him (and me) the most recoil that we felt was from the the Ruger .243.

Good day indeed.

I asked him the same question. He said. AK. I asked why. His response was that everyone knows what an ak is.
