I just replaced the thing about 2 weeks ago and only got a test drive out of this new one.

I went out to work on the jeep and noticed the pin sticking out through the side of my fuel pump. I have only driven the jeep once since I installed it!

WTH is it? I have a bad feeling it is not supposed to be like that.

Picture of the fuel pump from the factory website. The area outlined in red is where the pin is sticking out at.

I sure hope the place I bought it from will exchange it for a non defective unit.

These things are not cheap! If they don't exchange it I am going to be PISSED!

Thats looks like the pivot shaft for the diaphragm rocker..It needs to be pushed back in a staked in place with a center punch..check the other side too.

Just stake it yourself and dont even deal with hassle of taking the FP off to return it.

apparently i am......

anyway.....

what i said was to make sure you take it off to slide the pin back in, as it looks to be out far enough for the arm to be misaligned now.

Common problem with these. Tap the pin in while being careful that the hole in the arm is lined up properly, then stake the holes on either side. Personally, I would tap threads in the hole, then locktie in set screws in either side.

Linx, is this you?

I think that is what I am going to do. For the price of shipping it back to the place I got it from I can get a tap and a couple of set screws. Any recommendation on tap size?

Eh, it'd be a short trip anyway. Me? I'd have to reverse to get back to the "going" part...:jump:

Depends on the size of hole.
