Sling question

Hi Guys,

This is my first posting:

I have a question about slings.


Iam asking becuase the sling my chinese AK came with is some 'bogus' looking all tan colored leather ‘thing’ that you would have to fold and wrestle with to get it to go through the front loop.

Is this the correct sling with for an early Chinese imported 56 S rifle?

:welcome: to the board! If you are talking about the leather tabs on the ends that have the buttons - yeah, that's correct IIRC. Kind of like an SKS sling. We have some Chinese AK experts on board that can show you a pic.

That is the SKS Sling the AK Sling had one leather Tab. Early Chinese Sling's had the Russian D Ring Clip. then they went to that Crappy Tab system sometime in the 60's or 70's. I am trying to currently find the new Type-95 Black Nylon Sling with the Soviet Style D Ring System back in Place. I cant remember where I bought my First one. Not to be confused with the Black Nylon Romanian.

Thanks for the fast reply. No, this is not the standard AK/SKS sling, but an all leather sling. The sling is too wide for the front loop, too.
Is anyone familiar (without pics) of this type of imported sling ? It came with an early imported AK, but I dont know if its correct or not, from a collectors standpoint.

Hi, Sounds like you have an AK sling. The sks slings that I have are canvas, green, and have two
leather tabs about 6 inchs long on each end and are abou 3/4" wide. These are Chicom made
in the 70's. The guy at worldwarsurplus has some still sealed in wax packaging. I had some
but sold them all. I may have one more, if I do I'll trade you for yours if you want. Message

I also have a leather Chinese sling that came from china, i know because i get most my Chinese ak slings/cases etc from a guy in China off Ebay haha. That doesnt look Chinese to me.
