My first official AR build. Flattop with M4 feed ramps, 20" government profile barrel. Standard handguards, pistol grip and buttstock. I have a carry handle sight left over from my S&W ARM4, that saved me some cash. I did add a badger tac latch charging handle to swap out with my Son's scoped AR standard charging latch.

I'm geared up and ready to build the lower once it arrives. I'm using a Superior Arms stripped lower.

Kit plus shipping $511.03
Superior Arms Lower $65.00
Labor $free99
Tools already own the basics
Total: $576.03

Can't buy for that much in my area or online.

Gun porn once it arrives.

Whered you get your stripped lower?

Whered you get your stripped lower?

I bought a pair of these back in 08' from a friend of mine that runs a pawn shop. He is a true "gun guy" when it comes to what he buys and sells in his shop. He is a stocking pawn broker unlike some. I also got a Sundevil at the same time for $100.

I found these recently not sure if they are good or not but the price is not bad.

An A2 upper should come with a built in carry handle.

Yup but opted for a flat top because my son eyes are not perfect and he will inevitably will inherit this rifle from me and will want to scope it.

O.S.O.K.

Congrats! I've got 3 del-ton assemblages and all are top notch. What's the wait to get this?

I'm pushing the 6th week. They are telling me that the wait is now 6-8 weeks. I got one of the last Government profile barrels.

Then you got an A3 barreled upper.

True, but that is not how it is listed on my invoice.

Arrives Monday! We just moved into a new house and I can't wait. I need to get this built before my trip to the lease to kill rocks with it.

I got a 20" Del-Ton flat top about a year ago. I really enjoy it. It is accurate and so far it is reliable. I put a carry handle on it. Someday I will purchase an optic for it, but I haven't decided what to get. I would post a picture, but from the ship I can't get to my Photobucket account and I did not put any pictures here for some reason. I need to fix that. Can't wait to see your build. The waiting is always the hardest part.

A quality Red Dot and a quality (NOT CHINESE BUILT) flip up 3X magnifier for maximum flexibility.

Here's a picture of my DTI 20" upper after I finished it:

I chose a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 scope mounted via a LaRue Tactical SPR-E QD mount. The scope is illuminated with a dot being at the center of the reticle. At 1x it's almost as quick as a red dot, and at 4x it is just the right amount of magnification to easily put rounds where you want at further ranges. Very clear optics as well. As good as scopes that cost twice the price. The scope mount is very solid, and the quick detach feature is very nice. Despite having detached and reattached many times, the scope maintains zero. Couldn't recommend the combo I got enough.

I'm checking the UPS tracking site way too often to find out if it has arrived. I had it shipped to my GF's parents house since we both work during the day and it requires a signature. I'm really looking forwad to the arrival and unpacking.

Nice rifle but a little too tactical for my current rifle plan. The M4 I have fills that role. The optic on the otherhand is very nice and practical. I like Vortex products and will possibly be looking to get such an optic set up as you have.

Looks very familiar! Can't wait for the range report. Mine was dead on at 100 yards with no adjustments.

Taking it to the lease this weekend to test out some off hand shooting on some vile creek boulders.

With a 20" tube I could see an ACOG on that.

Took the new AR out to the lease this weekend. A few minor adjustments and I was busting rocks at 100 yards easy, using just the sling to steady my aim.

I brought a small amount of Brown Bear 62 gr FMJ to test the function of the rifle and sight in. I had 100% funtion with the Brown Bear. Next week I'll go to the range and put it on paper with some handloads I use in my other ARs.

I wil never buy a factory ready built AR again unless the price is close or better to what I have out of this rifle.

Have to agree with this and I don't have alot of mechanical skills. It is just cool to show people the rifle I built.
