My friend uses 9mm in .38 cases and says its okay ! From what I've read the .38 special prefers projectiles in .357 .... His 9mm are a .356 or a .355 ....
I flared a case and it dropped all the way in !! Even fellin loosely with an un-flared case !
What gives ? What size bullet is the correct one and should I ever use a .9mm

Yes you can. You must be bell mouthing too much if it drops in the case.

9mm .355 - .356
.357-.359 (38Spl-357 Mag.)
You can but its not something I would do. The rifling is not making good contact and will cause all types of issues. You will have a slower inaccurate round that may or may not tumble. Id doubt that it would cause a catastrophic failure.
In a time of need my guess it should still poke a hole in someone.
