Keep a lot on hand. This stuff is so valuable that it could be used as barter stock.

If you wear boots, get it in a color that matches said boots and use it as boot laces. Make 'em long enough that your have to wrap them a time or two to tie them... It's a pain in the ass, but I've had it pay off a couple times and was still able to tie my boots!

Use it to replace every lanyard you can and you'll always have a foot or two spare there too. Wrap knife and tool handles and rucksack frames with it.

I'm a Ham operator and I use mil spec not mil style para-cord to guy vertical antennas. Para-cord resists summer's UV followed by winter's winds for more years than most of the alternatives that I've tried.

I've got a necklace made of Paracord, holding up a heavy ass Thor's hammer pendant that I've worn daily for about three or four years now. Swimming, showering, sleeping sweating, day in and day out, and it has not even begun to fray. The stuff is magic!

I've made a couple of ad-hock .30 cal bore-snakes by tying intermittent knots in a length of para cord. Have yet to break or disintegrate one of them.

Wrapped the handle of every cheap knife I've got.

I usually keep at least fifty feet of it on hand anytime I travel. You never know. Even for small things, like the time I had to put something in my trunk that didn't quite fit, and used to para cord to tie everything down.

And you can get mini cords for fishing line or small jobs from inside the big cord! Gotta love it!
