The link above has text & video about a Ruger Redhawk failure. This is not typical of a Ruger revolver.

Good thing the kid shooting it wasnt seriously hurt.

I wonder if Ruger will replace the gun??

I would definately send this back to Ruger for a looksy. If they were shooting factory ammo, then this should be covered under their warranty.

Those things are quite a brute, I didn't think it would be possible to blow one up.

Thats rare! I have shot a lot of full house loads from my redhawk. Looks like the barrel went with the bullet?

I'm not sure but are the barrels threaded and pined?

Perhaps the pin was missing and the barrel just striped out the threads?

He says the pin is still in the frame.

Was this a "super red hawk" or a normal "red hawk".

The "not super" variety had some kind of problem in the earliest generations where the barrel wasn't secured properly.

Supposedly it was solved by better threading and locktight.

Was he rolling his own ammo?

I'm sure the Redhawk is a strong revolver.
The Super Blackhawk is pretty strong as well. An idiot I know reloaded his 44 mag by scooping the cases in Bullseye powder, never measuring. He went outside and fired the revolver. The first 3 shots went fine. The 4th disintegrated the cylinder and blew the top strap completely off.

He didn't get hurt, idiots seldom do.
