Well I got my case of Siberian made 7.62x54 ammo in and had to try the Mosin's out. First up was my brand spanking new to me M38 and it really loved this ammo, I didn't have to touch the sights. I was holding the front post in the middle of the target.

Then my still seems like new to me M 91/30 and it really liked the 148 grain ammo. Now I know where to adjust my sights.

Well that was fun but I had to compare it to American made but with Portuguese Milsurp FMJ ammo because that's what I have left, time for me to get some more. First shot was a wee bit high because I had put the M1 to bed wet and forgot to run a dry patch through it before shooting. I don't think it made much difference.

Then it was shotgun time with buckshot and slugs, The Mossberg 500C slug guns and then the Winchester 1200 smoothbore gun with the same ammo. I shot at an old fire extinguisher at 25 yards and I believe the warranty has been voided on that particular can.

No image, I couldn't make it fit in my scanner but it is a mess.

It was the most trigger time I have had in quite awhile and I needed it. Hot, windy and the sun was in my eyes but no complaints, it was a perfect day with just me and a mess of guns and ammo to shoot. When I get the windage on the 91/30 adjusted I will take it out back and try 100 yards again. These things are like popcorn, one ain't enough. Now I need a 44 and a 91/59 and well you know, you suckers hooked me good.

Only fired 5 rounds in each gun and haven't cleaned them yet, this was just a get acquainted with the guns and this ammo shoot. I think I'm really going to like this stuff even if it's the dirtiest stuff ever.

It sure impressed the neighbors. they came right over when they heard BOOM BOOM, BOOM. :coffee:

The 148 gr ammo had a head stamp of LVE 11 and was made at the Novosibirsk Low -Voltage Equipment Plant, Novosikirsk Siberia.

Those are good looking guns, Grump. Mosins are fun to shoot as well.

If you don't have any stripper clips for them, you might want to get some while there still around. Russian ammo on clips can be found at AIM surplus and ammunition-to-go. Its probably elsewhere as well.

Saw some the other day but didn't order them because I already had a large amount invested in what I did order. I definitely need to get some and learn how to use them. single loading is a pain in the butt but worth it when I shoot. I assume the same strip would work for both guns.
