Bought two Spike's Calico Jack lowers today. Going to build a host for all my center fire uppers. One is going on my 10.5" 5.56 upper (going to be a pistol until the paperwork clears, then I'll add a stock). The other is going to rebuild the A2 upper that I cannibalized to make my SBR. When I'm done, I'll have an A2 rifle, a .300BLK SBR, and a 5.56 SBR. The .22LR upper isn't getting its own lower, it will still be swapped out when I want to shoot it.

Where did you get these from? Sold out everywhere I look.

Two were in stock at Sharpshooters in Lorton VA. I bought both.

Hell yeah I would have too. I have been looking high and low for a Calico Jack lower from them but no luck.

Good score

I think one of the two had been in stock for a while. The box lists it as a "Jolly Roger" instead of "Calico Jack". The other box lists it as a "Calico Jack".

I've been online ordering the parts I need to complete these lowers. Everybody under the sun must be assembling ARs. Lots of stuff out of stock.

Especially with the Spikes stuff, last I checked they had like a 6 or 7 month backorder on their ARs and lowers on their site. Not to mention I have AIM to auto update me when lowers come in stock and no shit, I can go to place my order like 6 hours later and they are out of stock again.

Its crazy, I was hoping this crap wouldnt start till in a few months.

Coming along nicely. Changed plans, the one that was going to rebuild my 20" Bushmaster is now going to be the 10.5" 5.56.

The top is the 10.5" 5.56. Spike's lower, DPMS upper, Noveske barrel, BCM BCG, Gas Buster charging handle, YHM rails, YHM QD flash hider, LaRue buffer and tube, Timney 4lb trigger, Wilson lower parts, I Kick Hippies SLAP plate, Ergo grip.

The bottom is the 8" 300 BLK. Spike's lower, Noveske barrel, LAR upper and BCG, YHM rails, YHM QD flash hider, LaRue buffer and tube, Wilson lower parts, I Kick Hippies SLAP plate, Ergo grip. Waiting for the Timney 3lb trigger to arrive (Thursday according to tracking).

When the Form 1s clear, I'll order a couple of Magpul CTR stocks to add. I normally prefer fixed stocks, but I handled one of the Magpul adjustables and liked much better than the issue M4 I carried.

Very nice, NFA1934.

Crazy Q, how much velocity and foot pounds of energy do you lose when you go to an SBR over a standard 16 inch carbine?

Just curious if anybody knows.

Please tell us about the charging handle on the 300blk.

Please tell us about the charging handle on the 300blk.

That's an LAR OPS-4 side-charging upper. It's available in RH, LH, or Ambi. So far, it's run flawlessly on my Bushmaster SBR lower. The lack of a gap around a charging handle keeps gas out of my face when I run it suppressed (wouldn't work as well for that with a LH or Ambi). They're hard to find and a little pricey.

Trigger came in today. It's now complete, except for the buttstock that I'll add when the Form 1 clears.

General rule of thumb for an AR is 20fps loss for every inch for 5.56. Don't know specific numbers, but I remember the 300 BLK being less affected by barrel length than 5.56. I think I read somewhere that it was actually designed with an 8" barrel in mind (which isn't surprising since it was developed by a suppressor company).

It's a $200 tax and you fill out a Form 1. For making an SBR as an individual, you submit a Form 1 in duplicate with CLEO signature and passport photo on each, certification of citizenship, and fingerprint cards. for making an SBR as a trust, there is no need for the CLEO signature, photo, or fingerprint cards - instead you submit a copy of your trust paperwork (including the schedule A). A trust is much easier. Right now, it's taking ATF a little over six months to process the paperwork.

You will also need to engrave the name, city, and state of the maker on the receiver. The letters must be a depth of at least .003" and height of at least 1/16". Laser engraving isn't deep enough.
