Thinking on doing a trade for my like new Glock G23 for the Vanguard series 2 in 308 and possibly
Scoped.Anyone have the series 2?I have done a lot of reading on it and seems people that have them seem to like them a lot.
Sounds like it could be a good trade. The Glock has Truglo TFO,Ghost trigger kit and 4 glock extended mags.

As far as I know they are a quality bolt gun, though a bit off the beaten path of bolt guns. You might want to check out what After Market parts and stocks there are to support them. Rem. 700 actions have tons of stuff, not sure about a Vanguard, never owned one. I assume you have no quality bolt rifle for long range shooting and this will fill your slot in the collection.

My 308 vanguard is a rebranded Howa 1500, I'm guessing it's a series 1 since it's 15 years or more old in my hands. If it's like mine it's a good rifle and very accurate, mine has a real kevlar stock (not simply polymer as most are today). One thing Weatherby supposedly does VS just a std 1500 is guarantee an accuracy spec, no idea if true or not but mine has never let me down.

There does seem to be a lot of aftermarket parts out there for the vanguard.
And yes I need a long range gun.The Glock just sits and have other pistols that have more use for.

OK so the Weatherby is still on back order so decided to get the Remington 700 SPS Varmint with the 26" heavy barrel in 308
More I thought about it was glad the Weatherby never made it.

I do a lot of target shooting and think the heavy barrel would be more feasible for me and a couple hundred more I think gets me a better platform.
Im sure I will replace the stock and possibly the trigger.
Will be here Wednesday and will post pictures.

I guess its too late now... but I would have suggested taking a look at the CZ-550 series of rifles. The varmint laminate and varmint kevlar stocks are quite nice, and mine shoots as well as 1/3 moa.

You know I never thought about looking at CZ before. Not sure on the price for them but got the 700 for $613.00.

You can't go wrong with the 700 series. It like 1911's are so loaded with after market customizing parts and acessories you can configure it about anyway you want to.

Its been a while, but IIRC, that's about what I got mine for, maybe a little more. But I didn't have to replace the stock, and the set trigger is all you could ask of a target trigger. After bedding the front receiver lug with acraglass and atomized bronze, with a 16x SWFA super sniper scope, mine will shoot a 5 shot 100 yard group you can cover with a penny, and hold way better then MOA at 600-700 yards. I'm still impressed with mine after several years of owning it.

I took a gander at them on there web site and you are correct by the time I replace the stock and trigger I would have spent that anyway.
Just didnt know if I would have had to do the same to the CZ.Damn nice looking rifle though.
