I"m posting this in part to hopefully assist Veterans in finding information/treatment guidelines through the Veterans Administration. I got into VA system bout 4 or 5 years ago in St. Louie.
Called Columbia MO. & lady said I was no longer in system & would have to re-apply.
WTF!!!! After my initial app., I never received another thing from VA.

I plan on applying again .in person @ Columbia, MO. Good idea???????

For most veterans, entry into the VA health care system begins by applying for enrollment. To apply, complete VA Form 10-10EZ, Application for Health Benefits, which may be obtained from any VA health care facility or regional benefits office, on line at www.1010ez.med.va.gov/sec/vha/1010ez/ (http://www.1010ez.med.va.gov/sec/vha/1010ez/) or by calling 1-877-222-VETS (8387). Once enrolled, veterans can receive health care at VA health care facilities anywhere in the country.

If you need to go into the VA Medical center to enroll, it's located at 800 Hospital Dr. 573-814-6000

An appointment is not required, but it may save you a bit of time if you make one.

p.s......... Jay, could you venture a guess why I didn't receive a I.D. card after my first application & acceptence???

I don't know how far you have to drive, but I'd call 'em first and with your last name, and last four of your SSN, they can tell you if you're actually in the system but for some reason didn't receive a card.

Consider signing up for the "My HealtheVet" program while you're there. No cost, and provides an online-based system that greatly enhances your ability to communicate with the VA as well as your primary care provider. If you do so, you'll want to authenticate your registration before you leave the facility.

their website sucks. It won't let me sign on withiout my password, won't let me PUT IN a password, etc, nothing about the VA is worth a hoot. 23 million vets and not even 10% enough money to care for them all. that's one male in 6, of the age over 18.

Locate the white bar across the upper part of the page.

In the center of that bar is a help button.

Clilck on it.

Then click on the appropriate button to get the assistance you need.

If you continue to have issues, your local VA facility has staff that will assist you.
